Established by the Turner Family Foundation in 2002, the Turner Reading Awards recognize three outstanding SPS reading teachers each year who go above and beyond for their students. One finalist is named the Turner Reading Teacher of the Year.

The Teacher of the Year receives $6,000, with $3,000 for their classroom and $3,000 for personal use. The two remaining finalists each receive $2,000, with $1,000 for their classroom and $1,000 for personal use.

Nominations are open to teachers, peers, parents, students, PTA members, business partners, and community members. Finalists are recognized at the Celebrate SPS banquet.

Established in memory of beloved SPS librarian Linda Luke, this annual award honors one school level librarian who carries on her legacy of dedication and excellence and makes an outstanding impact on students. The recipient receives a $1,500 cash prize.

Nominations are open to SPS leadership, principals, teachers, staff, PTA members, business partners, and community members. Previous recipients are eligible for nomination.
