Animal Research

Animal Research

  • Description:

Students will choose an animal to research. Students will learn what they eat, where they live, and an interesting fact about their animal. Students will write and illustrate research papers about their animal. Students will work in groups to create a large animal poster. We have an Animal Showcase where student families can come and view our projects. Students will teach the guests about their animals and answer questions. We will travel to the zoo to kickoff our unit. We will learn about different animals. Students will be able to choose the animal they would like to research.

  • Need Represented: We need funding for a kindergarten trip to the zoo.
  • Academic Impact: This will be an engaging way to teach writing, reading and science standards. Students will also work cooperatively in a group. Students will have an opportunity to present to an audience. This is our end of the year culminating activity that brings together everything learned in kindergarten.
  • Student Population: We have appoximately 73 students in kindergarten. We are a Title 1 school with approximately 65% of our students qualifying for free and reduced lunch.
