The Foundation for Springfield Public Schools will team up with Kum & Go on Thursday, March 5 for the fifth annual Gallons for Growth fundraiser. During the 24-hour fundraiser, Kum & Go will donate 3 cents for every gallon of gas sold in Springfield to the Foundation’s annual Back to School grant program.
By simply filling up your tank at any Kum & Go in Springfield you will be supporting over 25,000 students. Since its first year in 2010 this event has raised over $30,000 and helped support a number of classroom projects. “The support that Kum & Go has provided for us has provided support for students and teachers across our district. Gallons for Growth allows our entire community to help support over 25,000 students, simply by filling up their tanks on March 5th. It has been a tremendous gift for the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools and a great partnership,” said Executive Director, Natalie Murdock.
The Back to School program, which benefits from this event, awarded over $300,000 last September to schools across Springfield. The funds raised on March 5 will benefit the 2015 Back to School program which is accepting applications from teachers now and will award funding in September.
“Teaming up with the Foundation is a great fit for us because it combines our commitment to the Springfield market while supporting the future of the community,” said Kum & Go president and CEO, Kyle Krause. “We’re thrilled to be involved with this fundraiser again and are happy to contribute to this initiative that benefits Springfield’s schools. I know that our customers, associates and community will join us to ensure another successful year for Gallons for Growth.”
The Foundation for Springfield Public Schools provides support to the public school system through grants and scholarships. The Foundation currently manages over 200 funds which benefit schools and programs in a variety of ways.
